Plumbing insurance
Contractors Insurance No Comments

Poop. Let’s talk about it. It probably is not the first thing you think about when you are looking at procuring insurance but it is important. In fact, if you are a plumber there is a good chance that you deal with it a couple times a week (if not more). Without plumbers, our world would be a dark, dank and unforgiving place. Access to clean water and sanitation serves as the foundation of our country’s infrastructure. It allows us to focus on our jobs, go to school and pick up hobbies when we can. Why? Because we do not have to think about going to the bathroom, or getting a glass of drinking water. We just flush or turn on the tap and we have an unlimited supply of clean water at our disposal.

But, more than 60% of the world’s population lacks access to toilets and an even greater number lacks access to clean drinking water which resulted in 3.4 million deaths per year. So, next time you go to the toilet just remember that the porcelain throne could be saving your life and, the caretaker of that throne (a.k.a. your plumber) is responsible for that. We would like to thank plumbers for their service (seriously we would not be here without you) and we would also like to send you a friendly reminder to make sure you are adequately insured. Listed below are a few policies your business should have in its’ insurance portfolio.

General Liability Insurance

In the event of an offsite accident (that results in property damage) or an injury that occurs at your office you are going to want to have general liability insurance. It will cover the cost of the damage (either property damage or medical bills) and will protect you from litigation. This policy is typically required by law so be sure to check your local laws and regulations.

Workers Compensation

Workers compensation is required by law, and if you do not have it, you are exposing yourself to unnecessary risk. This policy is designed to protect your employees if they suffer a work related injury. It will cover their medical bills and up to two-thirds of their annual salary until they can return to work.

Commercial Auto and Truck Insurance

If you have a vehicle that you use to transport employees or equipment from site to site you will want to consider acquiring commercial auto and truck insurance. It will protect your vehicle in the event of an accident, will cover the cost of damage and will let you focus on your business instead of paying for a new fender.
